Happy Holidays from Foothill Music Theatre

When the holidays are over the cast and production staff of "Sweeney Todd" will be getting to work. The rehearsal schedule looks packed, the road ahead is challenging.

So in this last week of the year, it is also the last chance to store all reserves of patience, commitment, focus and creativity...because they'll be needed in the next 8 weeks of rehearsal.

The end results is what makes it all worth it, just as it was with "Candide" and "Ragtime", both challenging, but satisfying creative endeavors.

Here's to 2005. Foothill Music Theatre will do all it can to bring you another year of great musical theatre.

Happy New Year!

Former Foothill Leading Lady co-starring with Lea DeLaria

If you're a Foothill regular, you probably remember Milissa Carey. She was Kate in 'Kiss Me Kate', Golde in 'Fiddler', and most recently Lily in 'On the 20th Century'.

This week she opens in "Once Upon a Mattress" up at 42nd St Moon in San Francisco.

Milissa is playing Queen Aggravain, the regal (and just a tad over-protective) mother of the hapless Prince Dauntless. I can't wait to hear her dulcet tones on the Queen's big number, "Sensitivity."

She's co-starring with LeaDeLaria, comedienne, chanteuse, Broadway star and queer icon. (Actually I sent Lea some interview questions for the blog over there about what it's like to be called any kind of icon!)

Check out more about the show at the 42nd St. Moon blog (which I also write.) I think I may go over there and tell the story about working with Milissa for the first time back in 1996.

There will be a discount for blog readers posted at that blog. Because ticket sales are SO brisk, they're going to do a one-day-only blog discount day at the box office. You can sign up at the blog to receive the weekly update that will alert you to the final details.
